Participation of the Center for Young Entrepreneurs in the planning and prioritization of the regional innovation strategy for the period 2020-2024 in the Northeast planning region.

The Center for Young Entrepreneurs (CYE) has been involved in the preparation of a regional innovation strategy 2020-2040 because of the lack of a self-sustaining entrepreneurial / innovation ecosystem that will contribute to increasing the number of fast-growing companies capable of innovating. We think that CYE should be one of the important stakeholders in creating policies that link education and entrepreneurship to the development of innovative ideas and projects.

The workshop was held on May 6, 2019 at the Center for Young Entrepreneurs in Kumanovo.

The workshop proposed several measures that we believe should be incorporated into the regional strategy for innovation:

• Strengthening cross-border cooperation by connecting innovative companies in the creation of ideas for common market.
• Encouraging start-up and innovative companies by the state, municipalities and donors through specific measures
• Organizing trainings for companies in raising the capacities for preparing applications for existing programs
• Organizing regular meetings between the business sector and educational institutions

The results of the workshop have been disseminated to our partners in the Center for Young Entrepreneurs in Kyustendil, in order to supplement their workshops with their proposed measures that would refer to a cross-border region.
